Paula J. Flaherty

Of Counsel

Paula Flaherty is Of Counsel to Fiduciary Law Center (FLC). For over 30 years, she has been in-house counsel to several TPA/recordkeeping firms, with seven of those years spent in the Technical Services area at John Hancock Retirement Plan Services, LLC.

Paula has been involved with many aspects of retirement law and ERISA since beginning her career at the US Department of Labor in Boston during law school. Following law school, she worked in the general law department of a major insurance company providing advice to the pension business and working with outside counsel on retirement contract litigation. With her years with the TPA firms and John Hancock, she expanded her knowledge into the issues of retirement plans of all types and sizes, working with sponsors, participants, financial advisors, and government agencies. She has done webinars on multiple subjects and has also worked on plan audits, plan correction issues, plan terminations, and other issues.

Paula received a B.A. in English and Philosophy from Boston College and her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where she participated in the Stone Moot Court team. She is licensed to practice in Massachusetts.

In her spare time, Paula enjoys time with a wonderful group of friends. She is an avid baseball, football, and basketball fan, and a happy guardian of her dog, cats, and birds.
